Joe Edwin Cargile, 68, of Madison, Mississippi peacefully passed away in his sleep at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. His wife LeAnn Cargile and son Braxton Cargile were at his side as he stepped into eternity to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ early Monday morning.
Joe Cargile is preceded in death by his mother Mary Maxine Cargile, his father Joe Dodson Cargile, his father-in-law Roger Zimmerman, and brother-in-law Scott Zimmerman.
Joe Cargile is survived by his wife LeAnn Cargile, his three sons Braxton, Barak, and Brayden Cargile, his mother-in-law Ethelyn Zimmerman, his daughter in laws, Amber Cargile and Molly Cargile, his brother Greg Cargile and sister-in-law Anita Cargile, and finally his best friend and only grandson Jackson Andrew Cargile.
Joe Cargile was born and raised in Fayette, Alabama where he grew up with his mother, father, and brother. He attended Bevill State Community College then proudly transferred to the University of Alabama where he paid his own way, as well as marching in the Million Dollar Band the last four years Bear Bryant was head coach. Joe went on to earn his bachelor's degree in education. He was a man of much knowledge as he later pursued and earned his master's degree from Mississippi State University. He then earned his National Board Certification in education as well, which he worked for many years to achieve. Joe moved to Jackson Mississippi in 1987 and married his loving wife in 1988 where they started their life together and raised three loving sons.
Joe Cargile taught faithfully for 41 years in schools in Mississippi. From Columbus, said Andrews, Whitten Middle School, and Madison Middle School.
He also served his church Liberty Baptist Church faithfully as he enjoyed his Sunday school class and serving in the music ministry playing his saxophone and singing in the choir. He loved his church family and loved serving the lord. Joe was loved by many, and his faith, endurance, dedication, selflessness, and humbleness are a testament of how he lived his life. Joe was an encourager, a defender, a provider, a father figure for people who didn't have one in their life, and a warrior of Christ Jesus. Every lesson Joe gave would be backed by scripture.
He loved his wife, family, children, church, schools, and students, but above all he loved Jesus. He believed in discipleship as he was involved with World Changers, catering to Wednesday night church dinners, leaving scripture booklets when he was out in public, leaving bibles in hotels with the Gideons, and sharing his gift of music in the music ministries in all churches he has attended. His most defining moment though in his walk with Christ was when he said, "What am I going to tell Jesus if I had the opportunity to help someone who was in need, and I did nothing?" Joe served the Lord faithfully, and now Joe is with the lord forever.
2nd Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
