Joe Chatfield Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coggins Funeral Home on Nov. 26, 2025.
Joseph Pierce Chatfield-Joe to everyone who loved him-left this world far too soon on November 25, 2025. He was born on August 27, 1988, to Bob and Denise Chatfield, and from the start he came into life with a spirit that couldn't be contained.

If you knew Joe as a toddler, you probably remember his signature look: cowboy hat, cowboy boots, and absolutely nothing else. That tiny outlaw energy never left him. Whether he was surfing in the backyard after a heavy rain-being pulled by the four-wheeler, of course-or jumping off the pool-house roof into the pool, Joe lived every day like he was auditioning for Jackass, and we loved him for it. Joe grew up loving the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, being covered in mud and grinning about it-that was Joe. He played sports all through childhood, but football with Coach Buck was truly special to him. At home, he and his brother John stayed up more nights than anyone can count playing video games until sunrise. And if it was a weekend, chances where good Joe was in Macon, GA blowing money he absolutely did not have.

After high school, in true Joe fashion, he took off for Key West, Florida with no plan except adventure. He worked on crab boats, lived like only Joe could live, and eventually found his calling when he went to lineman school. Becoming a lineman wasn't just a job for him-it was something he genuinely loved. The scared bond he felt from joining the brotherhood of linemen can never be broken.

But nothing in Joe's life ever meant more to him than his three boys: Jack, Alex, and Luke. They were his world, his pride, his joy. To them, he wasn't just Dad-he was their superhero, and he always will be.

Joe is survived by his sons Jack, Alex, and Luke; his mom, Denise Chatfield; his siblings, John Chatfield and Amanda Newmans (Shane Newmans); his Nana, Margaret Carithers; his nephew and niece, Austin Newmans and Mallory Newmans; and more friends and family than can be counted. He is proceeded in death by his father, Bob Chatfield; grandparents Henry Chatfield, Beth Chatfield, Dennis Carithers.

Joe lived big, loved fiercely, and left behind memories that will be told for the rest of our lives. He will be missed more than words can say.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
