Joe “Crobar” DeVoss, 70, of Florida and Silvis passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Viera Hospital in Melbourne, Florida.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 2 hours prior to service time. The family requests casual or support your team dress attire. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.
Joe was born October 29, 1954 in Whitwell, TN the son of Stanley and Jodie Grimes DeVoss. He married Diane Johnston January 26, 1974. He later married Barb DeVoss December 3, 1983. She passed away in October of 1994. He later married Sue Jones August 27, 2004 in Rock Island. Joe worked at Illini Beef until he became a heavy Equipment assembler at Davenport John Deere Works. He retired after 30 ½ years of service. He Also owned MJ’s Bar in DeWitt, IA. After retirement, he worked for Sam’s Club in Cocoa, FL. Joe was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1839 in Carbon Cliff and 3550 in Cocoa, FL for 45 years. He was also a member of Amvets Post 893 in Rockledge, FL and the American Legion Post 22 in Cocoa, FL. He enjoyed watching the Bears and the Cubs and having a good beer with friends.
Survivors include his wife Sue; children Denise DeVoss, Joe DeVoss, Jr, Jami DeVoss, Jennifer (Tom Perkins) Troutwine, Jeremy (Sarah) Troutwine, and Jeff Troutwine; grandchildren Kiyla, Kori, Shyan, McCree, Riley, Natalee, Devan, Addison, and Lily; great grandchildren Ember and Brycen; brother Stanley (Cindy) DeVoss; sister-in-law Mary Pratt; brother-in-law Bob (Tonya) Humbard; special buddies Charley and Izzy and many nieces, nephews, and close friends in Florida and Illinois.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Roy and Art DeVoss, and brother-in-law Mike Pratt.
