Lawrence “Larry” Bobb, 71, of Silvis passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at his home due to a long battle with COPD. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2023.
Visitation will be 12-2pm Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis followed by a celebration of life at 2pm. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Larry requested that you drive your vintage show car or truck (Rat-Rod) in procession to the cemetery in his memory. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Lung Association or American Diabetes Association.
Larry was born June 26, 1954 in Moline, IL the second child of Donald and Janet Bobb. He was a police officer for 20 years with the Rock Island Lines, Hampton, and Carbon Cliff. He retired as Police Chief from Carbon Cliff. Larry was president of the Silvis Eagles Club #1893 for 3 years. He enjoyed helping people and worked as maintenance supervisor at several apartment complexes. Larry also loved his cars and showing them off at car shows.
Larry loved spending time with his children Lena (John) Downing of Andalusia; Linda (Rusty) Hocker of Milan; LeAnn (Edward) Ford of Blue Grass; and Nick Bobb of Colona; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Debby Bobb of East Moline; Sherry (John) Colegrove of Athens, IL; Tim (Mary) Bobb of Davenport, IA; Tom (Juanita) Bobb of Moline; and John Bobb of East Moline; many nieces and nephews and longtime friends Kelly Doyle, Scott Sappington, Janice Vrombaut, and Karen Hamilton and family.
Larry especially loved spending time with his daughter LeAnn and his grandchildren Jacob, Jayme, and Johnny coming over and helping him often.
He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life Linda (Surratt) Bobb.
