Joe Eddie Easley Sr. was born on May 4th 1946 in Myrtlewood, Alabama to Johnnie V. Easley (Father) and Mellie Evans Easley (Mother). At a very young age, Joe Eddie was fortunate to have a bonus Mom, Fannie Mae Easley who helped raise him in Mobile, Alabama.
Joe Eddie was the second to oldest child of 11 siblings. He made transition on Wed. March 19, 2025 in Wilm. DE.
Joe Eddie graduated from Central High School in Mobile, AL in 1966. During high school, he constantly held down a part-time job while attending school. Upon graduation he worked at Coca Cola Bottling Company and L&N Railroad in Mobile, Al.
Immediately after graduation in 1966 Joe Eddie married his sweetheart (since the 8th grade), Annie Doris Jones, giving birth to three children: Angela, Tawanna and Joe Jr. In 1974 Joe Eddie relocated his family from Mobile to Delaware where he began working for Anchor Motor Freight as a truck driver/car hauler. Before retiring in 2007, Joe was considered a spokesman on the job, always willing to help advise his fellow co-workers regarding worker rights. Joe loved his job and was loved and respected by everyone on the job.
Joe was very active in various surrounding churches throughout his lifetime. He attended United Methodist Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church, Abundant Life Christian Center and Pilgrim Baptist Church. In the church, he enjoyed serving on the Deacon Board, Trustee Board, Usher Board and Men’s Ministry.
Joe Eddie and Annie were often known as the best dressed couple in every church they attended. They were most admired for their matching outfits. He had many other hobbies and interests as well, such as sewing, working in his yard, fishing, planning family reunions, vacationing and spending time with his family.
Joe Eddie was proceeded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Robert Earl Easley (MI), Alex ‘Jimmy’ Easley (AL), and Johnnie Mae Martin aka ‘Babysista’ (NY).
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58+ years, Annie Doris Easley, daughters Angela Easley, and Tawanna LaQueen Croom (Smyrna, DE) and one son Joe Eddie Jr.(Dover, DE). His pride and joy, granddaughter, Tabiah Croom (Smyrna, DE) and Goddaughter, Tracy Grimes-Swindell (Greenville, NC). His three sisters, Johnnie Mearl Mitchell of Wilmington, DE, Mary Taylor (Billy) of Linden, AL, and Mellie Jean of Bessemer, AL. His three brothers, Nathaniel Easley (Cora) of Mobile, AL, Freddie Easley of Linden, AL and Jack Green (Barbara) of Saraland, AL. As well as host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
