Joe Harold Furr, 84, of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born February 18, 1940, in North Carolina to the late Grover Silas Furr and the late Nada Harwood Furr. He was also preceded in death by brother, Silas Furr and sister, Betty Mauney.
Survivors include beloved wife of 61 years, Kathleen Furr; daughter, Anita (Tate) Talbert; granddaughters, Madison Caudle and Hailey Caudle; and great-grandson, Cameron Foreman; siblings, Kenneth (Betty) Furr, Walter Furr, Martha Thompson, John (Judy) Furr, Annie (Myron) Kluttz, Mary Isenhour, and Lewis (Wanda) Furr; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe loved woodworking and retired at the age of 82 from Rusco Fixtures after 44 years. He was a faithful believer in Jesus and served as a Deacon at Herrin's Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Joe could always be found in the garden or in his shop working with wood.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Herrin's Grove Primitive Baptist Church, 29482 Herrins Grove Church Road, Mount Pleasant officiated by Elders Mitchell and Chris Broadway. Mr. Furr will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, officiated by Elder Charles Broadway.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Atrium Concord 2G, Oncology 3J, and Tucker Hospice House.
