Joe Louis Gonzales, 58, of Amarillo, TX passed away June 10, 2024.

Joe was born on May 17, 1966, in Amarillo, Texas to the parents of Elena Frausto and Pete Gonzales. Joe is the oldest of his 12 siblings. He grew up in Amarillo alongside his large extended family. Always the big brother and protector of those around him. Joe played baseball in school. He married Gwen and they had 2 children Danielle and Ryan. Joe also has a son Eric.

He worked most of his life for the family business, Gonzales Moving and Storage, where he drove a truck, and dispatched. Most recently he worked for Star Truck and Body as an office manager, still working with semis as he had done his entire life. Joe’s life changed when his first 2 grandkids were born, Gyzelle and Jayden later followed by Alina, Graesyn, Everleigh and Luka. He lived for his grandkids; they were his life. Joe has always been surrounded by family which happened to be one of his favorite past times. He helped all of his brothers and sisters growing up and continued to help his nieces and nephews as they were born, too. Joe took care of his mother until she passed in 2018.

Dad loved to play pool, dance, listen to Tejano music, and if you were ever in the truck with him you got full karaoke show. There were no strangers to Joe, if you met him, you would not forget him. He loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys loose, and the Mavericks win. He had a good life that was not without its hardships, but he always found a way to overcome them. Those of us who knew him, knew just how particular he was when it came to his cleanliness, from the manicured toes to squeaky clean ears. Dad had to make sure his hair was perfect, which could only be cut at the salon as part of his regular things to do with Jayden his grandson. Joe only wanted to help those around him, anyone who knew him could count on him to be there when needed, he always found a way to help. Plenty of people can attest to the true generosity of Joe’s heart. He has touched so many lives and we know that his memory will never die, because it will live on in so many people’s lives. Those of us left behind only wish for more time with him, time to hear his voice, time to see his smile, time to laugh, and time for one last hug.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Elena Frausto, his grandparents Florentino.

Joe was survived in death by his father Pete Gonzales. His children, Danielle Gonzales, Ryan Gonzales, and Eric Renteria. His grandchildren Gyzelle Gonzales, Jayden Navarrete, Luka Gonzales, Alina Renteria, Graesyn Renteria, Everleigh Renteria. His brothers and sisters, Paul Gonzales, Pete Gonzales, Corena Johnson, Tino Leo Frausto, John Joseph Preciado, Paula Ashby, Michelle Martin, Shannon Gonzales, Charles Nickolas Gonzales, Roxy Horgan, Ashley Doyen and Patricia. And a large extended family.
