Joe Gary Griffin passed away on May 16, 2023 at the age of 85.
Joe was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on September 9, 1937 to Pearl (Pendley) and John Griffin. He grew up in the south side of Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1955. After high school, he joined the US Army. After the military, he went on to work at Western Electric in Oklahoma City. He retired from there in 1991. He has lived in Blanchard, Oklahoma since 1985 and passed peacefully at his home. He loved working on his land and could fix anything. He enjoyed getting together with his retiree buddies from Western Electric. They all gathered monthly for breakfast for decades at the same diner. He loved all animals and they loved him. He especially loved his dogs Blanch and Elvis of the home.
He is preceded in death by his wife Robin Griffin of 44 years; parents, Pearl Griffin and John Griffin; sons, Tommy and Steven Griffin; sister, Patricia Grace Humphries.
He is survived by his children: Gary Joe Griffin, Karon Griffin; Turene Ross and family; and Stephanie Griffin. Grandchildren: Hunter Martin, Autumn Ross, Micah Ross, Lincoln Ross, Melissa Griffin Frye and Kaite Griffin; Great-grandchildren: Aries Martin, Emily Frye, Ally Frye, Jack Griffin Frye; Jimmy Griffin and wife Barbara and family; sister, Karen Sue Brown and family; daughter-in-law, Mary Espinosa; a host of nieces and nephews and family and friends.
He was a kind and loving man, who will be greatly missed by all.

That he was a tall quiet man with red hair. Later I discovered his first wife and my mother had been friends in school. And my mother and his mother had gotten together once while I was a baby and his first born son Gary was a toddler. I really like, loved Joe. I met him when I was only 16 years old. And to me he was like a dad. A dad with red hair. Which I liked as I also had red hair. I miss Joe, and his mashed potatoes and the grilled corn he cooked each year at their 4th or July get togethers. I miss you Joe. I miss Robin also.

So many beautiful memories when I was a little girl but one of my most heartfelt memories is just the two of us eating ice cream on the couch and I would lay my head on his chest and at that very moment I always felt I was daddy's little girl.
