In Loving Memory of Joe Hubers "Jozo"
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe, who left us on November 3, 2025, at the age of 65. Joe was born on December 1, 1959 in Kimberly, WI son of the late Martin H. "Spec" Hubers and Marlene B. "Chick" Hubers. He married the love of his life Lori (née Haber) Hubers on August 18, 1984.
Joe passed away peacefully, surrounded by his beloved wife Lori and his 5 siblings and other family members-just the way he would have wanted it. Born and raised in Kimberly, Joe has made many memories and lifelong friends. Joe's humor and lightheartedness brought people together wherever he went. He was known as the class clown during his school years, always ready with a joke and a smile, leaving a lasting impression on classmates and teachers alike. His roots in Kimberly shaped his character and set the foundation for the generous spirit he brought to every part of his life.
After school, Joe began his career at the Kimberly Mill, where his hard work and good humor made a lasting impact. Countless memories and friendships forged in the glow of camaraderie and laughter & everyone received nicknames.
Later in life, Joe and his beloved wife Lori built their forever retirement home in
Eagle River, Wisconsin-a haven where they discovered an "up north" family, brought together by chance, by luck, and sometimes by the whimsical tripping over their loyal dogs. Their home quickly became a gathering place for laughter, stories, and genuine connection, as friends and neighbors grew into family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife: Lori (Haber) Hubers and their constant companion Sofi; along with his 5 siblings: Cindy (David) Wallace of Tomahawk, Dawn (George) Schmidt of Darboy; Mark (Janet) Hubers of Cambridge, Shelly (Bruce) Zeinert of Little Chute, Sherry (Rick) Bevers of Lake Poygan; twelve nieces and nephews: Mindy, Christy (God Daughter), Bradly, Matthew, Michael, Michelle (God Daughter), Lukas, Rebecca, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Brice and Jacob; along with 18 great nieces and nephews: Caitlin, Madison, Aiden, Coraline, David, Kiera, Casey, Connor, Colin, Henry, Payton, Paisley, Bentley, Houston, Bryan, Crew, Ryker and Lane; along with Lori's 5 siblings: Vicky Haber of Kimberly, Jane (Tom) Pendergast of Darboy, Mark (Veronica) Haber of Kenora, Ontario, Kelli (Boyd) Dietzen of Combined Locks, Paula Haber of Fountain Hills, AZ; 7 nieces and nephews: Brian, Abby, Danny, Samuel, Laura, Brianna, Boyd Jr.; along with 6 great nieces and nephews: Natalie, Austin, Brynlee, Briggs, Thorin and Samson; and his very special friends: Steve (Kelly) Van Asten and Mark (Deb) Fouts and a circle of loving relatives and friends.
Joe cherished the simple joys of life-weekend fishing trips, spontaneous adventures with loved ones. Among his greatest pleasures was heading out to Dale for hunting trips, where he shared countless memorable days with his father-in-law and nephews in the crisp outdoors. Joe also spent many hours snowmobiling, carving trails through the snow with infectious enthusiasm. Nearly every ride was made sweeter by the company of his best friend and beloved wife, Lori, who was always by his side for new adventures.
Another highlight in Joe's life was his love for Harley rides, especially on "Two Wheel Tuesdays" He relished these outings, riding alongside friends both young and old-even when the older friends needed a stool to hop on their bikes. These rides were more than just a pastime; they were opportunities for Joe to connect, share laughter, and build lasting memories across generations.
He found immense happiness sharing stories around the campfire, where his laughter was always the loudest and his tales the most memorable, and the way he walked around the firepit after their favorite spirits was the icing on the cake. His kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand made him a new friend for life. Joe took up the love for woodworking that he learned from his father. Joe was always ready for any adventure, even if it was just a quick walk across the street-he always returned successful.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Martin and Marlene Hubers: grandparents: Henry and Wilhelmina Hubers, Joseph and Mary Revoir; mother and father-in-law Jim and Darlene Haber.
A celebration of his life will be held at a future date, where his fishing and hunting companions, friends old and new, and all who loved him will gather to share memories, laughter, and gratitude for the time spent together. Details of this celebration will be shared when arrangements are made.
Joe faced his sickness with characteristic humor, often summing it up with a good-natured, "ohhh shitsky." It was his way of reminding us to take life in stride and to find a reason to smile, even in difficult times. Joe will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Lori would like to call out a special Thank you for all the friends and family that were there to help her with big and small requests during this past year, with a special call out to Cam, Dawn, Mark and Deb that were always just a phone call away when she needed them. May he rest in peace. And as we carry his love, laughter, and legacy forward, we say-one last time, but never for the last- "THANKS JOZO", for all you have given us and for all the ways you continue to inspire us as we go on. Until we see you again.
