Joseph Kois, Jr., 77, of Greensboro, Pa., passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025. He was born on March 15, 1948, the son of the late Joseph Kois, Sr. and Dorothy (Grmek) Kois.
Joe was a 1966 graduate of Mapletown Jr./Sr. High School. He continued his education at West Virginia University, graduating in 1971 with a degree in electrical engineering. On January 29, 1972, he married the love of his life, Linda J. Shafer, and together they shared 53 wonderful years.
Joe worked tirelessly as a coal miner for Duquesne Light, and the Eighty-Four and Shoemaker mines, all in an effort to go above and beyond for his loved ones. The most important thing to Joe was his family, and taking care of them was his top priority. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and shared the love of both with his daughter. Joe was the happiest when he spent time with the two most important people in his life, his granddaughters.
In addition to Joe's beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter, Michelle Kois (Edward); granddaughters, Christal Ryczek and Rhianna Ryczek (Guide); and sister, Diana Kois.
