Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A. - Oakland ChapelMichael "Mike" Logsdon, 74, of Oakland, passed away on October 31, 2025, at Mon Health Center in Morgantown, surrounded by his family. Born on June 19, 1951, in Clarksburg, WV, he was the son of the late Vernon "Bill" and Kathleen (Spurgeon) Logsdon.
Mike, a 1969 graduate of Philip Barbour High School, pursued higher education at West Virginia University, where he earned a master's degree in Electrical Engineering. He became a pivotal figure in outdoor education as a founding member and director of the Adventure Sports Program at Garrett College, while also serving as a dedicated professor there. Deeply committed to his community, Mike was involved with Garrett Trails, Garrett Institute for Lifelong Learning, the Wisp Ski Patrol, 4H Camp, and Big Brothers Big Sisters; he also served as an assistant director and camp counselor at Camp Minnetoska. A passionate lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed tending to his garden, skiing, whitewater rafting & guiding, playing & refereeing soccer, and cheering fervently for WVU and Pittsburgh sports teams. Music brought him joy through playing the piano and guitar, and he formerly participated in Garrett Choral Society. Nothing surpassed the delight he found in spending time with his adored children and grandchildren. Things Mike once did with his own children, he loved carrying on with his grandkids once he became "Pappy" - exploring the family property and fostering their love of nature, tinkering in his woodshop making Christmas gifts for them, being goofy and rambunctious with them, always inciting laughter and chaos as a result of his playful personality.
He is survived by his children, Hannah Crabtree and husband Taylor of Oakland, Holly Montana and husband Mat of Frostburg, and Wesley Logsdon of Oakland, and their mother, Peggy Redfield; four grandchildren, Henry and Violet Crabtree, and Spencer and Hayden Montana; his sister, Linda Rohlfing and husband Mike of Flowery Branch, GA; and his girlfriend, Michelle Harman of Grantsville. He will also be missed by his two beloved cats, Kuddy and O.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lions Club Blind Skiers program.
