Gerald Edward Gank, 83, of Oakland died on January 26, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Born on September 30, 1942, in Hutton, he was the son of the late Gerald Eugene Gank and Regina Myrtle (Waybright) Gank.
He was an auditor with the Department of Education in Washington, DC serving 35 years prior to his retirement. In 1999, he returned to Garrett County, where he volunteered in many capacities such as District Coordinator for the AARP Tax-Aide Program, Loar Auxiliary Treasurer, and Deep Creek Lions Club Treasurer. He was a member of the Elks Lodge as well as the Mountain Top Cruisers Club, where he enjoyed showing his favorite 1957 Chevrolet. He also attended Oak Park Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Phyllis Jordan Pickard Gank; one son, Gerald Edwin Gank and wife Mary; step granddaughter, Heather Upole and husband JJ; step grandson, Kevin Walker and wife Bailey; stepson, Ralph Pickard and wife Tamara of CA; stepdaughter, Cheryl Pickard Donnelly and husband Tom of CA; three grandchildren; five additional step grandchildren; several great grandchildren, including his special great granddaughter, Lillie, who loved spending time with her Pop Pop; one sister, Geraldine Biser and husband Wayne; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Leigh (Gank) Hale; and two sisters, Betty Smith and Norma Bloom.
At Gerald's request, he will be cremated. A service will be held at a later date.
