Wendell "Chuck" Denver Gank passed on November 1, 2022, at the age of 74. He was in the Avon Cleveland Clinic at time of passing. Chuck fought the hard and brave fight of Melanoma since 2019. Chuck was born March 19, 1948, in Kingwood, West Virginia to parents Denver (Bunk) and Maxine Gank.
Chuck married his high school sweetheart Judy (nee Upton) on June 17, 1967, before joining the United States Army in 1968. Chuck and Judy settled in Elyria, Ohio where they raised their two daughters. Upon discharge from the United States Army, he began his career at United States Steel where he was a welder and worked in transportation for 46 years. He was a long-standing member of the AMA and loved flying his model airplanes. Chuck and Judy enjoyed camping with family for many years. He loved cars, his tractors, riding motorcycles, and anything with wheels made him happy. He was often found in his garage where he became friends with neighbors who passed by and chatted daily. He was full of compassion for all animals, rescuing and proving loving homes. Throughout his battle he continued to check in on his loving dog Gizmo. Old cars, country music, and his gift of conversation made him a friend to everyone.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Bunk and Maxine and his loving sister-in-law Christine Upton.
He is survived by his wife Judy; daughters Tina Lohr (Charles) and Dawn Peters (Allen); grandchildren Krystyna, Darrion, Kirsten, Trenton and Justine; great granddaughter Brooklyn; siblings Melinda (Mike), June, Roger, and brother-in-law Charles (Nita); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 2-5pm at Busch Funeral Home 114 Second St., Elyria. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 7, 2022 at 10:30am at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
