Joe S. LeCompte, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, left this world on February 27, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on February 4, 1943, Joe lived a life steeped in dedication, both to his family and his career. With a proud spirit, he served in the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying the values of courage and commitment which he carried throughout his years.
Professionally, Joe found purpose in his work, devoting over 25 years to National Can, followed by an additional 15 years at Franklin International. His diligent contributions and unwavering work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike, marking him as a steadfast presence in the industry.
Outside of work, Joe was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed the craftsmanship of woodworking, pouring his heart into creating beautiful pieces that spoke of his fine touch. His afternoons often found him immersed in computer games, his laughter echoing through the halls of his home as he engaged in friendly competition. Most cherished of all were the moments he spent with his family, whether at home or on joyful outings, sharing stories and laughter that became the fabric of their lives together.
Joe’s legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Janet, who stood by him through every chapter. His daughters—Annette (Mark) Rood, Debbie (Michael) Hughes, and Lisa (Kevin Derkin) Donovan—carry forth his spirit in their own unique ways. Joe’s influence is deeply felt in the lives of his granddaughters, whom he raised with love: Tracey Smith and Eternity Donovan. He also leaves behind a proud lineage of grandchildren, including Robert Thomas, Leslie Thomas, Lindsey Thomas, Markie Rood, Joshua Rood, Jennifer Jones, Mindy Mullins, and Joey Hughes. The love of family extended even further, as he embraced many great, great-great, and great-great-great-grandchildren, each one bearing a piece of his heart.
Sadly, Joe is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Robert A. Thomas; their memories are forever cherished, a poignant reminder of the bonds that transcend time.
A visitation will be held on March 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM at Full Armor Church of God located at 14454 East Broad Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Joe S. LeCompte leaves behind a legacy rich in love, laughter, and craftsmanship. His spirit will forever echo in the hears of those who had the privilege to know him, a testament to a life well-lived.
