Joe David Miller

Funeral services for Joe David Miller, 85, of Bonham, will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 6, 2025 in Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Kevin Towery will officiate. Burial will follow in Moores Chapel Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday night at the funeral home.
Joe David Miller was born June 18, 1939 in the Cotton Center Community of Fannin County, Texas, the son of David Miller and Mayme Jo Goyne Miller. He was a 1957 graduate of Bonham High School and received his Masters degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. Joe David coached and taught at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas and Denison ISD. Following his years as an educator and coach, he returned to Bonham where he took over his father's construction company. Joe David married the love of his life, Donna Lou Altom on July 5, 1963 in Durant, Oklahoma. He served on the Moores Chapel Cemetery Board and was caretaker for many years. Joe David was a true 'people person' and leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication for his family and friends. He enjoyed visiting around town at the various coffee drinkers locations.
Joe David was preceded in death by his parents, Mayme Jo Miller and David and Bennie Miller, wife, Donna, and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Don Miller and Linda Miller.
Joe David leaves to cherish his memories his sons, Scott Miller and wife Christine and Gregg Miller and wife, Mary, sister, Linda Hearne and husband, Martin, grandchildren Jake Miller, Amy Jo Kelley, Brandon Miller, Kyler Miller, and Kaysen Miller, great grandchildren, Grant Miller, Brett Kelley and Wesley Kelley, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Miller, Sean Floyd, Stan Waldrop, Chad Clark, Fred Burkhammer, Dr. Jerry Hopson, Tommy Eskue, Gene Danner, Bob McCraw, Gary Hall, Tommy Hope, and Warren Jamieson.
