Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Joe N. Wilson US Army Staff Sergeant. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Staff SGT. Joe Nathan Wilson was my Uncle, my Mother's little bother. I just wanted to thank eveybody from my Family and I for their kind words towards my Uncle. He will forever be remembered for the Hero he is, and although he is gone he will NEVER be Forgotten!Evey year we hold a ceremory in his Honor on Nov. 2 to commemorate him, which is a consider a Holiday in Crystal Springs as "Joe Nathan Wilson Day". My Uncle was such a inspiration and role model to me that I decided to join the U.S Army in his memory which I can see why he loved what he did so much. We miss him very much but his spirit lives in us everyday and we wont let his memory be forgotten because he will always be our HERO!

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,850 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Kenna

In Memory of Joe ~ (Debra Estep)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Joe, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Staff Sgt Wilson. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Staff Sgt Wilson knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Staff Sgt Wilson!

To the Family of one of my Greatest friends I had the pleasure of making. I knew Joe Nate very well as we served in Germany together. I had the pleasure of being deployed with "Will" as everyone called him in Bravo 2-3 FA. We were in the same section and He was the "Clown" we all grew to love as he made you smile each and every day. I apologize that I haven't written sooner But I couldn't bring myself to even accept this difficult time and still find it hard to even write. I really Miss our comraderie in the military and am very fortunate to have shared this with Joe Nate. I will never forget you! I hope your family has been comforted in the past few years and if they shall need anything I will more than try and accommodate them as we always spoke of. I have just recently returned to the U.S. and will make every attempt to contact them. Thanks Will, you are a REAL SOLDIER!!!

My Dearest Joe, when my Mother (Mrs. Christine Bass of Crystal Springs, Mississippi) told me that you were my cousin my heart just broke, because I never had a chance to meet you. I left Crystal Springs more than 22 years ago, after graduating from the University of Mississippi. If I could see you today, I would give you the biggest hug and kiss, and tell you to rest in "Peace", because you are now in the "HANDS OF MY LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST." With Love,
Ms. Mary E. Bass

I would just like to say that, I knew Joe Wilson when we served in Fort Hood, Texas. We were assigned to the 20th Engineer Battalion and I considered him a good friend. We did alot of things together and we had alot of fun. After serving my time in the military and receiving my honorable discharge in August of 1995, I lost contact with Joe and also the other guys that were apart of our fun little group. Joe made my time at Fort Hood very enjoyable and he will really be missed. I know because he was a clown and would keep you laughing at everything. I think my biggest regret is that, I did not keep in contact with him. On Nov. 5, 2005, I was looking at all of the photos online, that New York Times had displayed, in tribute to our fallen soldiers, who have died during this war in Iraq. Little did I know, when I reached the month of November, 2003, that I would see the picture of one of my old buddies, Joe Wilson, in that display. It really took a toll on me and left a big lump in my throat. That information was very hard to swallow. To the family of Joe Wilson, he was a good man and good friend. He helped me out alot and I will always appreciate it. Stay strong and keep his memory alive!
