Joe Aubrey Placker

Joe Placker, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 16, 1937, in Brady, Texas, Joe lived a life marked by dedication to his family, passion for his work, and a love for simple pleasures.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and two grandchildren. His memory will be kept alive by those who survive him: his beloved wife, Linda, his children, Jimmy Joe Placker, Chuck Thorne, Vicki Kiker, and Stephanie Rinald, his four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Joe found joy in creating with his hands. He discovered his talent for welding, a skill that would shape his career and provide for his family as he worked in various refineries. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking in his shop and tackling projects around the home. He also enjoyed playing golf and reading or watching western novels and movies. Joe's most profound legacy, however, is the family he nurtured alongside his wife, Linda Jean Placker.
In his final moments, Joe was surrounded by love, with his wife Linda ("Mama") by his side, a testament to the life they built together. Joe's life will be celebrated in the memories of those who knew him and in the stories that will be told of his hard work, his strength, strong morals, and his unwavering loyalty to his family. As we honor his memory, we take comfort in knowing that Joe Placker leaves behind a world that is better for his presence in it. Rest in peace, dear Joe, until we meet again.
