Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Salisbury from Nov. 24 to Nov. 25, 2025.
Joseph Carl Raffa, known affectionately as Joe to his friends and loved ones, was a beacon of light and a pillar of strength throughout his remarkable life. Born on March 31, 1943, in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, PA, Joe's journey was one marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering spirit. On November 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family, Joe passed away peacefully in
Salisbury, MD, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Joe's life was a testament to the power of hard work and the pursuit of knowledge. After graduating from Olney High School in 1960, he furthered his education at Pennsylvania State University, earning an associate's degree in engineering in 1964. This foundation of learning propelled him into a fulfilling career in the semiconductor industry. Joe's passion for his work was evident to all who knew him. He began his career at K&S in Willow Grove, PA, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become a Product Manager. His quest for knowledge and growth led him to become an Independent Sales Representative for Disco Corporation, where he continued to excel until his retirement at the age of 76.
Travel was one of Joe's greatest passions, and he explored the world with an insatiable curiosity. Every destination was an opportunity to learn, to taste new cuisines, and to immerse himself in different cultures. His love for food was not only in the eating but also in the creation, as he enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and sharing them with those he loved.
Joe was also a master craftsman, an accomplished woodworker whose hands could shape and mend with remarkable skill. His creations were not just objects but pieces of his heart, given freely to family and friends. His legacy lives on in every carved detail and lovingly repaired heirloom.
Joe's family was the center of his universe. He was a devoted son to Joseph G. and Rose Raffa, a loving husband to Kathleen Raffa, and a proud father to Joseph D. and Keith. His role as a grandfather to Joseph R., Chandler, Ryan, Matthew, and Christopher, and as a great-grandfather to Eleanor and Charlotte, brought him immeasurable joy. The bond he shared with his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Raffa, and granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Raffa, was built on mutual respect and affection.
Joe's life story is one of triumph, not of tragedy. He faced each challenge with courage and each success with humility. His legacy is not just in the memories he leaves behind but in the lives, he touched with his generosity and warmth. Joe's journey may have come to an end, but the path he forged remains a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know him. Let us celebrate Joe's life, not with sorrow, but with the joy and gratitude he so often inspired in others.
