Joe William Reece Sr., a loving husband, devoted daddy, cherished grandpa, and proud great-grandpa, peacefully departed this life on December 29, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on June 20, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Joe was a simple man whose heart overflowed with love for his family and an appreciation for the little joys in life.
Throughout his journey, Joe exemplified what it meant to be family-oriented. He shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with his beloved wife, Betty Jean Reece, for an incredible 55 years. Together, they raised a family filled with love, laughter, and precious memories. Joe's spirit will forever live on in his daughter, Diane Marie (Todd) Anderson, and through the joyful laughter of his grandchildren: Michael Corey (Paige) Anderson, Joseph William (Hannah) Reece III, Danielle Brook (Tim) Reece, Rebecca Dawn (Tyler) Anderson, Bo William (Brooke) Reece, and Chelsea Nicole (Chase) Anderson. With 17 great-grandchildren, and two more on the way, Joe's legacy is extended and enriched through each of them.
Joe's interests reflected his down-to-earth nature; he found delight in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was fishing, playing bingo, or making grocery shopping an adventure. His warmth and kindness were a beacon to all who knew him, particularly his sister, Delores (Lamar) Gifford. Furthermore, Joe cherished the close bonds he formed with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, whom he regarded as brothers.
Though he faced loss within his family, including his son Joseph William Reece Jr. "Jody," as well as his parents Ada Bernice Brown and Willard David Reece, and sister Anna Denise Reese, Joe carried their memory in his heart, honoring them through the love he spread to those around him.
A visitation to celebrate Joe's life will be held on Tuesday, January 6th from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Southwest Louisville.
Remembering Joe William Reece Sr. means celebrating a life devoted to family, simplicity, and joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love that shall never fade, as he will always be the guiding light in the lives he touched so deeply. The people in his life who he truly loved will always carry on the phrase "I Love You More".
