The world grew a little colder on January 8th, 2026, having to surrender our sweet, goofy, instigating (in a funny way), loving, caring, funny, and supportive: husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Joe Mack Richards, to rest easy. He was born July, 08, 1956 in Odessa, TX to Thomas and Peggy Richards.
Joe was a loving husband to Kathy of 46 years, the absolute best father to Bobby Richards and Kathleen and Daniel Akins, and proud Papa to Ayden Richards, Lilly Davis, Merry Kathryn Davis, and Bryson. Baby brother to Tom, Ronni, and Linda. Uncle to Jim Tom, Crystal, Kimberly, Natasha, Amy, Ronni, Kerri, and Alison.
As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Joe served his country with honor and integrity. After his military career, he became maintenance and plant scheduler, dedicating 33 years to Kimberly Clark where he met so many amazing friends that he continued talking with until his last moments here with us.
A memorial service celebrating Joe’s life will take place at Oakhurst Farm 19566 GA Hwy 219, West Point, GA 31833 on January 17th, from 2:00-4:00 PM EST. Attendees are encouraged to wear your favorite football team in honor of Joe’s love for football and Tennessee Volunteers. The family would love to have you come by, share your favorite memories of the person we cherished so much.
