Joe Franklin Sanderson, 83, born May 19, 1942, in Paducah, KY, passed away September 16, 2025, in Poplar Bluff, MO. Beloved husband of JoAnn Sanderson and devoted father of David and Daniel Sanderson. Cherished grandfather of Aleia (Taylor Parsons) and Anna (Benjamin Richter), and proud great-grandfather of Scarlett Parsons. He is also survived by his sister, Julie Williford (Bob Williford). He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Levi Sanderson and Mary Lee Sanderson, and his sister Betty Vick (John Paul Vick). A devout Christian, Joe served as a youth leader in the Royal Ambassadors. He, his wife, and his son Daniel have been members of Temple Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Joe was an Army veteran, serving as a military police officer. He held a bachelor’s degree in business administration and spent his career as a grocery store manager. As a young man he enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles; later, he treasured family trips to the Smokies and watching Cardinals baseball with his sons. Joe will be remembered for his sense of humor and deep devotion to family and church.
There will be a visitation Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church 1813 Barron Rd Poplar Bluff, MO. The funeral service will begin at noon with Rev. Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at City Cemetery.
