Joe R Sayes, 88 of Tylertown, MS passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Diversicare. He was born Monday, March 22, 1937 in Winnfield, LA to the late Hannon Sayes and Ida M. Gorham Sayes. Along with is parents he was also preceded in death by wife, Bobbie Sue Smith Sayes; son, Keith Sayes; brothers, Willie Sayes, Byron Sayes, Winston Sayes, and Davis Sayes; and sister, Edith Sayes.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Capps Funeral Home, 270 Old Hwy 98 E, Tylertown, MS. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 12 noon until funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Brother Landon Lambert will officiate. Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Joe was a proud member of the United States Navy. He worked at Crown Zellerbach in Bogalusa, LA as a machine operator oiler for 37 years. After his retirement he loved to travel with his wife, Bobbie Sue. Mr. Sayes also enjoyed raising cattle and working in his garden.

Survivors include his sons, Neil Sayes, Sr (Cheryl) and Joel Sayes (Stacy); grandchildren, Ben Sayes (Sarah), Neil Sayes, Jr (Leigh Ann), Amanda Sayes, Alan Sayes, Ryan Sayes (Rebekah), Trevor Durazo, and Xochi Durazo; great grandchildren, Sawyer Sayes, Eleanor Sayes, Noah Felps, and Alyjah Felps; brother, Malcolm Sayes (Avie); along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.

Pallbearers will be Ben Sayes, Neil Sayes Jr, Ryan Sayes, Trevor Durazo, Stuart Sayes, and Chris Mills.

Honorary pallbearer will be Alan Sayes.
