Joe Terry (Spooky) Sims, 58, of Valdosta died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on November 3, 1952 in Valdosta to the late Joe Terrell and Myrtle Ruth Stephens Sims and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mr. Sims was currently a forty year employee at Sears as a lead service technician and a Baptist. He enjoyed hunting and helping with the Lowndes High Georgia Bridgeman during his daughter's high school years. Survivors include his wife, Alice Sims, his daughter, Alison Sims both of Valdosta, sisters in law and brothers in law, Sandra Sims of Valdosta, Sylvia and Mike Bryant of Rocky Mount, NC., Jean and Charles Rackley of Moultrie, nephew, Joseph Sims and his wife, Stephanie and their children, Austin, Thomas and Josie of Valdosta, nephews, Alex Amerson and his wife, Jennifer and their daughter, Kylie of Macon, nephews, Ryan Amerson of Warner Robins, Steve Amerson of New York, Jason Amerson of Washington, niece, Tonya Henry and her husband, Dave and their sons, David and John of Centerville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Terrell Sims. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Saturday, March 12, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Bussey officiating. Burial will follow in the Ousley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
