I knew Pastor Joe Thomas at Dawson in Philpot. He sure stood for what he believed. Pastor Joe was one that would lay down his life for another. What a good man.

Brother Thomas married my husband and I many years ago . My husbands family were members of Dawson Baptist . He also preached my father in laws funeral. I remember when he officiated our wedding he and my grandfather , also a baptist minister had a great time talking. Brother Thomas went out of his way to make sure my 80 year old grandfather enjoyed the occasion since he wasn't from here and only knew our family members. I remember thanking him and he said we preachers have to take care of one another. The many duties of a minister are lost on so many. So much is expected. They are held to a higher standard . I believe Brother Thomas exemplified that standard and probably though of himself as only a humble servant of the Lord. He touched many lives and won many hearts to the Lord. Bill and our family will never forget him. I have no doubt he's happy where he is now. Bless u Karen and family in this difficult time.

Karen - Bro. Thomas meant so much to us. Serving with him early in our ministry at Dawson was very helpful and foundational to us. He married us and presided at our 20th year anniversary vow renewal service. He and Mrs. Thomas loved the Lord, people, church and were full of integrity. We were certainly blessed and enriched when our paths crossed that of Joe and Emily Thomas. Our prayer is that God will comfort you and your family in this time of loss. Sorry we could not come to the visitation or service but our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Karen,
You were a beloved daughter and you took care of him so well, even being across the pond ! You sacrificed much to make the extra trips back to Kentucky to care for him especially during Covid. You should have no regrets for the care and time that you spent with him and Sharon. May your precious memories give you comfort during these days.
Love,
Paula Settle

Karen, I am so sorry that I won't be able to see you during your father's visitation or funeral. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" is surely what he heard when he reached Heaven. And it was a day of rejoicing when he once again saw your mother and sister. May many happy memories comfort you.

I only ever saw Joe on Sunday evenings during Covid, as Karen had made arrangements for him to be logged in to her Zoom AUI Christian Community worship services... But I can imagine what it meant for him to follow a worship service led by his daughter. It was so lovely to see him there, and I am left with the feeling that during those long months, we formed a kind of family... To Karen, Kevin and Claire, most sincere condolences. May you feel our Lord's presence as you struggle through arrangements to be handled in the next few days. Blessings to all from Morocco.

He was truly a man of God. He was my friend as well as my pastor. Bro Joe made a huge impact on my life and I will be forever grateful. To Karen and her family my prayers and love go with you. He was an amazing human being.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Thomas Family. This is a sad day, but at the same time Joe and Emily are together again, and for eternity. I first met Joe, and Emily, when they appeared at my door step when we first moved to Owensboro. They came to visit our Family and to invite us to their Church, Third Baptist of Owensboro. What a wonderful couple. Two of the best people in all the world. Our Family became members of the congregation and loved every minute. Over the years I worked with Joe, beside Joe and even for Joe. He was always there for me, my family and the whole Church Family. He helped so many and never asked for anything in return. Over the years, it was always nice to see Joe, meet with Joe and/or just visit to talk about Life. I shared my children with Joe and they loved the opportunities to spend a little time and just visit. Our loss is Heavens gain. Over the past few years I lost contact with Joe, but I will always have those great memories that all started when the Worlds Best Couple knocked on my door. May God Bless Us All.
