Joe Wilkie Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jenkins Funeral Home on Mar. 29, 2026.
Joe Earl Wilkie was born on October 8, 1951, in Houston, Texas, and passed away suddenly at his home on March 19, 2026, in Spicewood, Texas. He was 74 years old.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Jackson Wilkie and Earline Walker Wilkie.

Joe's life was a testament to dedication, adventure, and faith. Joe grew up in Houston, Texas and attended Spring Branch High School, graduating in May of 1970. Shortly after his graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army. Joe served as an Army Ranger during the Vietnam War. He completed two terms of duty with honor and courage. His time in the military shaped his character and instilled a deep sense of discipline and resilience that he carried throughout his life.

After his military service, Joe embarked on a successful career in the oil and gas industry. He worked for Paragon Engineering before joining ConocoPhillips, where he dedicated many years of hard work until his retirement in 2015. His career took him to remarkable places around the world, including the North Sea and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. These experiences reflected Joe's adventurous spirit and professional expertise.

Joe found joy in life's simple pleasures and cherished moments spent with loved ones. He had a passion for boating and enjoyed indulging in ice cream, Starbucks Cold Brews, and anything chocolate. He loved walking through the Hill Country with his wife Deborah, marveling at God's creations along the way. Even routine trips to the grocery store became special as Joe preferred taking scenic country roads over highways-a reflection of his appreciation for life's beauty.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife. They traveled to Rome, Malta, Greece and the Hawaiian Islands. He also enjoyed visiting Seaside, Florida and made that trip a yearly family tradition vacation.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife Deborah Denice Wilkie; one brother, five children, two stepchildren; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through them and through all who were fortunate enough to know him. May Joe Earl Wilkie's memory bring comfort to those who loved him as they reflect on a life well-lived and filled with love, service, and gratitude for God's blessings.
