Joel Bailey Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Joel Bailey, age 67 of Chatsworth, passed away peacefully in his residence, August 31,2025.

Joel is preceded in death by: (Eldest brother) Jimmy Bailey. (Grandparents) Joe & Essie Winkler, Arthur & Susan Bailey. (In-laws) Robert & Gail Hickey. Susan Jones (Former Spouse and Mother of his Children). Phillip Dunn (Close Friend).

Survivors Include: Spouse & Best Friend: Phyllis Bailey

One of my favorite memories: Joel made up a story for Jamie, as a little girl. He said Charlie was his friend who drove the train and blew the horn every time he came by the house. He told this to all the grandchildren & kids who heard the train come by. We all would wave at the train & yell, hello Charlie!! Just the other day while headed into town, Abigail saw the train coming, and said, here comes Charlie! It took me back to the very first time I heard Joel talk about Charlie and I know this memory will continue to follow our family as long as the train, "Charlie", blows the horn.

(12) Grandchildren: His memories were often shared: Cara, riding down the driveway to the barn with her body hanging out the window yelling YAHOO! Robert's first deer and camp tales. Sunny's hind-catching softball and her beautiful red hair. Sophie's first car and her thinking a cement mixer was a cotton candy machine. Hagan & Easton's soccer games, both going to Murray High, which always ended with some of his own personal stories from his days in school. Abigail loving to sit for hours fishing and her love of hearing his truck engine rev up. Grace pitching softball and her beautiful blue eyes, never really being able to decide who she looked like most. Ava, another beautiful red head, always needing to touch everything & her talents in arts and crafts. Riley's high fives & who she loves most. Stone & Trevor coming to Christmas for the first time and Stone's sermon.

Children & Spouses: Amanda Bailey & David Slaughter of Resaca, Jamie & Cameron Patterson of Chatsworth, Sara & Tony Fowler of Fairmount, Daniel & Wendy Stewart of Chatsworth, Ryan & Brianna Stewart of Chatsworth.

Parents: James & Nellie Bailey of Chatsworth

Siblings & Spouses: Deborah Jones of Dalton, Charlene Bailey of Chatsworth, Michael & Kim Bailey of Dalton, Cindy & Chip Howalt of Rocky Face. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & uncles, all dearly loved.

In remembrance of Joel, share your memories with one another. Most likely that remembrance may be something he helped you solve over the phone. Perhaps the last conversation you shared may have just been about family, friends or deer hunting. Joel worked alongside many talented persons, from everyday hard laborers & contractors to corporate professionals. He never put one person above the other. He genuinely cared about everybody and knew all had purpose. Joel was a very blessed & talented man, who lived & loved to engineer unique ideas in everything he did. When his imagination began, he would explain his thoughts with his hands, painting a picture you could see if you listened and watched.

Joel was loved and will be deeply missed by all he encountered throughout his lifetime.

A memorial service to honor the life of Joel Bailey will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Grandview at Fort Mountain. (2948 Holly Creek Cool Springs Rd, Chatsworth, GA 30705)
