Joel Todd Barker

Mr. Joel Todd Barker, age 55, departed this life to enter his eternal home on September 27, 2025. The family will greet friends on Friday evening, October 3rd, 2025 from 6-8 pm in the chapel at Clark Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 4th, 2025 at Browndale Baptist Church with Rev. Tracy Mays officiating. Burial will be in the Barker family plot at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Todd was born to Amos Ezekiel “Zeke” Barker and Peggy Mays Barker on November 5, 1969. He was a native of Hawkinsville, Georgia and graduated from Hawkinsville High School in 1987. Todd continued his education at Middle Georgia State University where he earned an associate degree and later received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Fort Valley State University. He went on to work as a financial advisor for over 30 years.

Todd was an outgoing, fun-loving person who lived his life to the fullest. He never met a stranger and was very active in his community. Todd served as volunteer coach for the Hawkinsville High School tennis team and as a youth director at Hawkinsville First Baptist Church for several years. Todd played in many men’s league tennis tournaments where he received numerous awards. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending concerts, collecting sports cards, and going to the beach.

Todd is survived by his wife, Erica; children Sarah Beth Barker of Warner Robins and Sam Barker (Andyana) of Hawkinsville. Preceding him in death were his parents, Zeke and Peggy Barker; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Terry Rhodes.

Pallbearers will be Ken Mullis, Scott Fisler, Wes Brown, Tony Thompson, Darin Simmons, and Allen Sampson. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Obert-Thorn, Don Ceniza, Curtis Coody, Chris Howe, Joe Sapp and Chris Dollar.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in Todd's memory to the ALS Association, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, Iowa 50037 or to St. Jude’s Children's Research, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
