Joel Royce Carter

Joel Royce Carter, 72, of Climax passed away Monday, November 17, 2025 at Randolph Hospice House surrounded by his loved ones. He was born December 30, 1952 in Rockingham County, NC to Joel Ford Carter and Virginia Carver Carter.

Joel will be remembered as a family man who loved spoiling his grandchildren. He loved his many trips to the mountains and spending time outdoors. He was a proud member of the Red Cross Civitan Club. Joel spent his entire career in the trucking industry - driving big rigs, dispatching, and in his later years, delivering cars. Joel worked for several trucking companies nationwide and local – Swift Transportation, Miller Brewing in Eden, and Prestige Fabricators in Asheboro. He loved his family dearly and his memory will be kept alive by those who love and miss him.

Joel is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lynn Carter of the home; son, Tim Carter (Tiffany) of Walnut Cove; grandchildren, Milie Collins and Hunter Carter; sister, Ann Bray (Tommy) of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joel is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Lane Collins and niece, Cindy Bray Fagg.

The family will receive friends from 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S Main St. in the Eddie Pugh Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM with Reverend Michael Woolard officiating.
