Joel Cummings

Joel Cummings, 36, of Pampa, passed away on December 25, 2025, in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Tim Clifton, an associate pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church of Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements and cremation care are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joel will be available for viewing from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, on Monday, and from 8:00 AM- 8:00 PM, on Tuesday.

Joel was born on July 17, 1989, in Dumas, to Becky Shipley and John Cummings. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school in Stinnett. Joel would live in various towns that included Stinnett, Sundown, Amarillo, Follett, and Pampa. In 2015, he would come back to Pampa to be closer to family and has remained ever since.

Joel was a music lover, and he appreciated all the different genres, whether it was Hank Williams, Jr., or Lil Boosie, you could see him dancing to it. Joel never met a stranger but connecting with the elderly and especially playing with children brought him much happiness. The most important thing in his life was his family, especially all his children. Joel will be remembered as a loving, giving, and unselfish person who put many others before himself.

Joel was a talented and curious man who was always looking for another adventure in work and life. He worked in various industries & occupations that included oil & gas, automotive, but mainly and most often in construction, and he was known to be a "jack-of-all-trades". Joel liked the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also liked playing golf from time to time but playing pool with his buddies was his favorite.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stanley & Darlene Cummings, Jimmy Wise, and Bill Wrigley; and stepfather, DL Shipley.

Joel is survived by his children, Jonas and mother, Emily, Delani "Nins" and Kinslee "Rae Rae" and their mother, Taylor, Toby and his mother, Gracie; mother, Becky Shipley (Kris); father, John Cummings; brother, Austin Cummings (Alexis), and Casey Evans (Krista); sisters, Tiffany Pearson (Mike), Ashtyn Shipley, and Raven Russell (Jared); aunt, Bevalee Cummings, uncle, Larry Cummings "Uncle Charlie" (Denyce), Jim Wise (Shelley), Randy Wise (Vicki), and Glenn Wise (Kim); former stepmother, Mandy Cummings; and other extended family and many friends.
