Joel C Gray

Joel Christopher Gray, age 62, of St. Croix Falls, WI passed away on January 12th, 2026.
Joel was born to James and Bette Gray in St. Paul, MN on July 2nd, 1963. The family moved to Stacy, MN in the early 70's and it was there that Joel grew up with his two older brothers. One of his favorite things to do as a child was spending as much time as possible outdoors. From climbing trees, and wandering the woods at night, or riding his dirt bike, you could almost always find him outside exploring their 40-acre property. Music came natural for him at a young age when he learned to play piano and guitar. He had passion for music and joined a rock band in his teens called Special Delivery, with him being the lead singer.
In September of 1985, Joel married his best friend, Joann, and they were blessed with 3 children.
A 'jack of all trades' by nature, Joel could fix nearly anything. Any chance he was able; he used his knowledge to help friends, family, and complete strangers. He loved spending his time strumming on the guitar and singing whatever song felt right. His audience included his family, who, if you knew Joel, was his whole world. Being a father was truly one of his greatest joys and he was always telling people how proud he was of his kids. His quick wit and ability to think up goofy songs on the spot was thoroughly enjoyed by his family and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Joel is survived by his former wife, Joann; his daughter Cassandra and son-in-law, Cody; grandchildren, Cameron, Carson, and Camille, his son, Jesse and daughter-in-law, Mandy, his daughter, Erin and son-in law, Noah; grandchildren, Grace and Gabe; and his brothers, Jerry and Jack.
His parents, James and Bette, precede him in death.
There will be a celebration of life held by his family at the home of Jesse and Mandy Gray on Saturday January 24th, 2026 from 1pm – 4pm. Please contact the family for the address.
