Joel Light Obituary Joel Robert Light of Warsaw, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the care of Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana at the age of 76.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana, he was born on June 8, 1948, in Warsaw, to Vivian Bernice (Enyeart) and Robert Odell Light. Joel was a graduate of Warsaw High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in April of 1968. He proudly served until his honorable discharge on November 26, 1969, after serving in the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Germany.
He had worked at R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Warsaw, and upon returning home from the Army he went back to work at R.R. Donnelly's and finished his career as a machine operator in the bindery department and retired after for 45 years.
Joel married Cynthia Sue Bayne on December 16, 1967, and they were blessed with 57 years of marriage before he passed. He was known for his gentle spirit, kind heartedness and sense of humor. His favorite hobby was listening to his favorite musician, Frank Sinatra and watching sports, as he was a football player at Warsaw High School. Joel was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 49 of Warsaw. However, the thing he enjoyed the most was simply spending time with his family and watching his grandsons grow up. Joel was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Cyndy Light (Warsaw, IN); daughter, Kelly (Steve) Carson (Leesburg, IN), and his son, Douglas (Stacie) Light (Warsaw, IN). Also surviving are five grandchildren, Nick, Josh, Jacob, Landon and Alex; as well as his brother Steve (Suzie) Light (Warsaw, IN); and a brother-in-law, Robert Bayne (Warsaw, IN). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vivian Light.
Joel's life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Steven Rahn. Military rights will be conducted by members of the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126 both of Warsaw and active-duty members of the Army Honor Guard. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
