Joel Benjamin Malone, age 91, resident of Wilmer, AL. He was born on January 17, 1934, and passed on June 13, 2025. Joel retired from Courtaulds Fibers in Axis, AL., after having worked there for over 40 years. He was a faithful deacon and member of Crawford Baptist Church, Mobile, AL., for 50 years. After retirement, Joel went with his church family on many mission trips, building and rebuilding churches, often after major disasters.
Joel is preceded in death by; his wife, Alma Jean Clements Malone; his parents, James Benjamin and Willie Mae (Bullock) Malone; his brothers, Earl Malone and Ethanuel Malone; his sisters, Elizabeth Prince, Della Mae Finlay, Roberta Havens, and twin sister, Josephine Odom.
Joel is survived by; his children, Brenda (Eugene) Howell, Wayne (Julia) Malone, Sheilah (Derrall) Marshall, Gary (Anna) Malone, Julie (Marty) Gomien, and Jeannie (Mike) Barber; his brothers, Harry (Gloria) Malone and Ronnie (Carol) Malone; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Joel's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 1 P.M. at Crawford Baptist Church in Mobile, AL. with Dr. Jay Robertson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Burial will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are his grandsons: Derrick Marshall, Jeremy Malone, Kevin Marshall, Justin Malone, Tyler Malone, and Easton Gomien.
