Joel A. Raetz

Joel A. Raetz, 72, a resident of 497 Lake Drive in North Bennington, VT, passed away at the Southwestern Vermont medical Center on January 27, 2025.
Joel was born in Bennington on August 9, 1952, the son of the late Otto and Norma (Woodell) Raetz. Joel received his early education in Pownal and was a 1970 graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School. Joel married Sharon Lee Hayes on November 10, 1972 in North Pownal.
In earlier years Joel worked at several area restaurants including Princes Restaurant, Pete's Ice Cream Shop and the Heritage House. He later worked at the Valentine Mill and Vermont Wood Shapes. Joel, along with his wife Sharon, owned and operated a taxi and delivery service.
Joel is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Sharon of North Bennington, two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Bobbi Raetz of Hudson, NY and Chris and Stacey Raetz of Bennington, VT, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Edward (Linda) Raetz of Pinehurst, NC, Timothy (Kathy) Raetz of Connecticut and Terry (Tracy) Raetz of Bennington, VT along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joel's request is to be cremated. There will be no services. The family will spread his cremains.
