Joel Welsh Obituary
He was a 1972 graduate of Round Lake High School in Chicago, IL. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War as part of the 82nd Airborne Division. He was an accomplished painter with skills only few had in the Southwest Florida area. He loved hanging out in his shop tinkering with things and never turned down an opportunity to enjoy a cold beer.
Survivors include his beloved partner of 17 years, Lisa A. (Lechler) Townsend of Naples, FL; children Jeremy Welsh of Yorkville, IL, Jamie Trochowski of Chicago, IL, Joshua Welsh of Antioch, IL, Jeanette Lynn (Shawn) of Naples and Joel Welsh III of Naples; Step children Ashley Turner of Naples, Colby Townsend of Tampa, Haley Gubala (Jeff) of Naples; Sister Debra Webb (Joe) of MI, brother Jeff Welsh of MI, brother Joseph Welsh (Susan) of IL, brother James Welsh (Lusia) of IL and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a grandpa to 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Joel Welsh Sr., Thelma Welsh, son-in-law Robbie Turner and step son Jesse Townsend.
Joel's wish was to not have a memorial service. So drink a cold one for him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joel's name may be made on Venmo: @Lisa-Townsend-6.
Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home Family Owned and Operated Since 1978
