Joey Lynn "Joe" Lafferty

Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness."
Joey (Joe) Lynn Lafferty, age 64 of Oak Hill, won his courageous battle after suffering a long illness in Richmond, Virginia on Saturday. January 20th, 2024, when God brought him to his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 6th, 1960, in Oak Hill, West Virginia, he was the third son of the late John and Betty Lafferty. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Mark, Travis, Carlos and Jeff Lafferty and father-in-law James (Jim) Settle.
Joey spent most of his life working for the City of Oak Hill and dedicated many long hours away from his family to provide for them. Joey was an avid West Virginia Mountaineer fan and enjoyed watching football games, watching NASCAR, collecting old coins, and going to antique stores. He coached basketball for Joe Aiello League and also played basketball during his youth. He also had a love for baseball and enjoyed watching games at the local little league field, especially when his grandson Conor was on the field.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and dedicated wife of nearly 41 years, who never left his side, Celestial (Celest) Lafferty. oldest daughter Emily Lafferty and his baby girl Holly Lafferty, grandchildren Kaylee Lafferty, Kaya Gibson, Conor Stevens and Arabella Lafferty; brothers John and Greg Lafferty; sisters Robin Lafferty-Strong and Becky (Walt) Smith; mother-in-law Eva (Little Eve) Settle, special aunt and uncle Charles (Portia) Robertson and Charlotte Smith.
If you knew Joey, you knew he was passionate about his family. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. They were his whole world; he held many titles in his life but being a pawpaw was his favorite role and he loved nothing more than making his grandbabies smile. He was a true patriarch. Despite spending much of his time recently in the hospital, he never lost his sense of humor. He had a great ability to make others smile and play lighthearted pranks on people. His sense of humor will be missed. Joey loved helping people and was always there for anyone who needed a hand or a listening ear. He thrived on the exchange of conversation and was committed to his family to make sure they always knew they had his love and support. Joey has made an impact on many. He made so many people feel special and will be truly missed by those who love him. To know Joey was to love him, and loved he was and forever will be.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 25th, at 3:00 pm in the chapel of High Lawn Funeral Home in Oak Hill with cremation to follow.
Friends may call beginning at 2:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home.
