Joey Meaney Obituary
Joey was a devoted husband to his wife, Donna J. Meaney. Their marriage was built on love, faith, friendship and unwavering support. Together they shared 39 years of marriage and countless memories raising three boys.
Joey worked for over 40 years as an electrician, taking great pride in helping others. He was known for fixing anything that needed repair. Outside of work, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, vintage tractors, racing, coins, fabrication and concerts. Also, a devoted father and grandfather, he coached his son's baseball teams, and in recent years, he loved watching his grandson play baseball. Joey loved spending time with his family, he loved his boys, and nothing made him more proud than being "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren Luke and Della.
He will be remembered for his kindness, funny sense of humor and the way he always showed up for the people he loved. He believed in hard work, honesty and treating everyone with respect.
Joey was preceded in death by his parents Michael "Mickey" and Rebecca Meaney, brother Johnny Meaney as well as his grandparents, Dixie Watts, Michael J. Meaney, Sr., and Mint Meaney. He is survived by his wife Donna J. Meaney, sons Corey Meaney (Erin), Austin Meaney (Maddie) and Michael Meaney all of Cottondale, grandchildren Luke Meaney and Della Meaney, and brother Jamie Meaney (Missy).
Serving as Active Pallbearers will be Kenny Lauderdale, Corey Meaney, Austin Meaney, Michael Meaney, Luke Meaney, Chris Folsom and Jeff Hunnicutt. The family wishes to recognize DSL Electric, Grant Hunnicutt, Crystal Hunnicutt, Matt Brock, Tony Brock, Tina Brock, Dr. Hemstreet, and the Staff of DCH and UAB hospitals as Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in Joey's honor, may be made to the American Heart Association.
