Joey Odom Obituary

Joey Russell Odom was born in Nashville, TN to Lavonne Saddler Odom and the late, Gene Odom. Joey was a hard worker from a young age and enjoyed his lengthy career in road construction. He was employed with Jones Bros for almost 40 years.
In his free time, Joey enjoyed cheering on his beloved Tennessee Volunteers and watching the Atlanta Braves. He spent many years volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and assisting his late son, Justin, obtain the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoyed all things outdoors including trips to the beach, fishing and camping with his family. Later in life Joey became an avid collector and enjoyed visiting estate sales, where he was always on the hunt for vinyl records, art, antiques and construction die cast equipment. Most of all, Joey enjoyed spending time with his family, including his large extended family, and of course Joey's greatest treasures, his grandchildren.
Joey is survived by his sons Joshua (Lezlee Thursby) Odom of Chapel Hill, TN, and Jason (Kelly) Lawrence of Franklin, TN; grandchildren: Jaxon Odom, LuAnna Aguilar, Sydney Lawrence and Morgan Lawrence; his mother: Lavonne Odom; and siblings: Mark (Mindy) Odom, Clay Odom, Jeannie (Carl) Thompson, Angel (Jim) Horn, and Alison (Terry Richardson) Poss. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Odom, son, Justin Odom, and father, Gene Odom.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN. Interment to follow at Wilson County Memorial. Pallbearers include: Anthony Williams, Harold "Lugnut" Hicks, Terry Richardson, Nick Levering, Jerry "Bubba" Williams, and Greg Dedmon. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m.
