Joey Simmons, a beloved member of the Shelbyville, TN community, passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 60 surrounded by his children and family.
Born on November 26, 1963, in Lincoln County, TN, to the late John Simmons Jr. and Mary Helen Simmons (Howard). Joey was known for his love of fishing and hunting, often spending his free time pursuing these passions. He worked as a dedicated concrete finisher throughout his career, leaving his mark on many projects in the area.
Above all else, Joey cherished his family. He was a proud father to his children Tasha and Matthew. He was also a doting grandfather to his grandchildren Michael, Anastaisa, Tre, Kemel, Shayla, Shelby, Austin, and Dillon. Joey was immensely proud of his dog Sukie, who brought him great joy and companionship.
Joey is survived by his brothers Mike and Dawn Simmons and Frank Simmons. Daughter- Tasha Trice, Son- Matthew and Mindy Simmons. Step-son Cain Cook. Nieces and nephews Kyle and Jennifer Simmons, Lauren Smith, Cassie Simmons, Lexi Simmons, as well as 4 great-grandchildren and many great nieces/nephews.
Joey is preceded in death by his life-long partner Susan Simmons and sister in law, Kim Simmons.
Joey Simmons will be remembered for his kind heart, dedication to his work, and love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Services will be conducted at Doak Howell Funeral Home in Shelbyville on Monday July 29th 2024. Visitation times are 4-6 pm with the funeral immediately following. No graveside service.
