Joey Sudyka, 78, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Joey was born on May 25, 1946, in Irvington, New Jersey. Joey spent the earlier part of his childhood living in Irvington, where he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and was an altar boy for the church. In 1960, he moved to Middletown with his family and graduated from Middletown High School. On November 12, 1977, Joey and his beloved wife, Janet, were married and began their life together in Hazlet, where they remained to raise their family.
At the age of 14, Joey joined his first band, "The Starliners". Shortly after, he started his own band, "The Jen Trio", which was very well known throughout Monmouth County and one of the top wedding bands in the 1970 and 1980's. He was also a Disc Jockey for radio stations such as WHTG and WRLB. In 1975, he was the Emcee and performed at the Polish Festival at the Garden State Art Center, currently known as PNC Bank Arts Center, and performed many senior shows there. As the years went on, his greatest love was entertaining his beloved seniors. Joey also loved to perform for handicapped children's organizations in New Jersey and Florida. He was always the life of the party and loved to be surrounded by people.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Edward and Caroline (Michalski) Sudyka, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wallace and Lillian Maraldo, and brother-in-law, Craig Maraldo. Joey is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 47 years, Janet (Maraldo) Sudyka, his loving stepchildren, Fred Marx and his fiancée, Katerina, and Lisa Quinn and her husband, Kevin, his cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Jennifer (Russell), Steven, Alexa (Quinn), and Brian, and his dear brothers, William Sudyka and Michael Sudyka and his wife, Sandi. Joey also leaves behind his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Pam Maraldo, his treasured niece and nephews, Brooke, Brandon and his wife, Nikkie, Michael, Nicholas, and Thomas, and his best friend Bill Pisciotta. Joey will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

My first memory of Joey was in 1977 when he played at the Veterans home for our residents, after that, the various facilities I had worked, Joey played for our seniors, he was a favorite of everyone. Joey had a heart as big as all outdoors for our seniors, I considered he and Janet friends through our work. He will never be forgotten; I still can't believe he's gone, I received his Prayer card today and am still in shock. God Bless you Joey, and may Janet and their family find comfort in their memories.
