Lieutenant Colonel Robert "Hassie" Hasanoeddin, a wonderful man, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Bayshore Medical Center,
Holmdel, New Jersey. Born on September 10, 1941, in
Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love. Robert, affectionately known as "Hassie "to his friends and family, was a man of exceptional character. His early years were spent in Point Pleasant, and later moved to The Bronx, New York. In 1968, he moved to Newark and eventually settled in the Old Bridge area in 1981. A proud veteran, Robert served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army, achieving the esteemed rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His commitment to his nation was mirrored in his professional life, where he retired after many years as a chief investigator for the State of New Jersey, Office of Public Defender. His work ethic and loyalty were unparalleled, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Robert's life was one of courage and kindness. He was a loving and devoted husband to his late wife, Patricia A. White Hasanoeddin. He also faced the loss of his wonderful daughter Natasha Hasanoeddin Gambacorto, his parents, Sidi and Bessie (Walton) Hasanoeddin, his sister Barbara Hasanoeddin, and his brother-in-law Calvin Williams. During these difficult losses, he remained a pillar of strength for his family. He is survived by his loving daughter, Razak Appuliese, and her devoted husband Thomas of Jackson. His caring siblings, Mary Williams, Chaidir Hasanoeddin and his wife Evelyn, Sidi Hasanoeddin and his wife Laura and David Baracka. Robert's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Meaghan, Zachary, Kaylee, Lindsay Appuliese, and Robert Gambacorto, as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly. Robert was a hardworking man who found joy in attending concerts with his friend Nancy and crabbing with his best buddy Jimmy. To Jamie and his PNC family, the Colonel says "Salute". His dedication to his country will be lovingly remembered by all. Robert's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and commitment. His spirit will forever be cherished and remembered. He will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
