Johanne M. Haight Forney, 91, of Pittsfield, PA, died peacefully Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Rouse Warren County Home, following an extended illness.
She was born January 6, 1935, in Kane, PA, the daughter of J. Pearle and Ethel Schuler Huckabone. She was a longtime resident of Starbrick and the Pittsfield area. She enjoyed spending her winters in Riverview, FL, where she played in shuffleboard tournaments, eating strawberry short cake and ice cream. Johanne was a 1952, graduate of Warren Area High School, where she was a member of the Acapella Choir. Along with her brother, she studied piano at the Warren Music Conservatory. She was employed a number of years at GTE Sylvania and for 6 years with the Warren County Districts at Youngsville High School. She was a member at First Lutheran Church and Saron Lutheran Church and most recently attended Hessel Valley Lutheran. She was a former member of the National Campers and Hikers Association (NCHA). In her youth she performed piano with her father on guitar at many area churches. Johanne made over 200 quilts and had numerous wins at the Warren County Fair for her beautiful quilts.
Johanne is survived by her 4 children: Dr. Dale E. Haight and wife, Melissa of Warren, PA; Mona J. Craft and husband, Timothy of Tidioute, PA; Lori A. Bromley and husband, Russ of Albion, PA; and Bruce A. Haight and wife, Wanda of Riverview, FL; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Johanne is preceded in death by her first husband, Norman “Lefty” Haight, and her second, Theo Zeke Forney; her brother, Richard (Dick) Huckabone, and three grandchildren, Melissa Haight, and Corey and Kyle Bromley.
Family and friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 304 East Street Warren, PA 16365, on Saturday April 4, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home with the Rev. Nancy Schwanke and Rev. Dr. Dale Haight, officiating. Burial will be held privately in Westview Cemetery, Starbrick, PA. Those wishing to place memorials may do so through, Hessel Valley Lutheran Church, 166 Hessel Valley Rd., Box 7, Sugar Grove, PA 16350 or the Warren Music Conservatory, 220 Pennsylvania Ave W, Warren, PA 16365, where a scholarship fund in Johanne’s memory will be established.
