Chesterfield, SC – Mr. John A. “Big John” Lane, age 51, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. A funeral service to honor his life will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home chapel, officiated by Pastor Jeff Gardner and Pastor Glenn Scott White. Burial will take place in White Hill Cemetery following the service. The family will greet friends from 3:00 - 4:00 PM Prior to the service at the funeral home.
John was born on August 10, 1973, in Cheraw, SC, to the late Bobby Lane and Sarah White Hennessy. He was known for his intelligence, big heart, and exceptional gift to build anything. John loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. His passion for grilling and cooking made him the life of many cookouts and get togethers. He was a true family man and cherished time spent with his sons and will be remembered for his appreciation of a goodtime.
He is preceded in death by his parents, uncles Al White, Steve Lane, and Glen Lane, stepfather Chip Hennessy, and close friends Chris Rainey, Chris Quick, David Driggers, Shannon Adams, as well as his beloved pet, Marley.
Mr. Lane is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Reene Lane; their sons, Jack Lane and Dusty Lane, both of Chesterfield, SC; siblings Bevin (Matthew) Steen of Jefferson, SC, Jessica Lane of Florence, SC, and Ray Lane of Charleston, SC; mother-in-law Debbie White of Chesterfield, SC; uncles Richard (Denise) Lane of Columbia, SC, Cecil (Sharon) Lane of Dillon, SC, Keith (Sherry) Lane of Cheraw, SC, and Robbie White of Chesterfield, SC; aunt Karen White of Oklahoma; along with several nieces and nephews, numerous cousins including Rob White, Melanie White, Jared “J-Rod” White; uncle of the heart Ricky West; his furry companions “Rambo” and “Daisey”; and a multitude of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be directed to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home to assist them during this difficult time.
