John Wayne Adickes

John Wayne Adickes passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at his home in Flemington, New Jersey, surrounded by his family. Born on July 7, 1941, in Washington, New Jersey, Wayne lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and love for family and friends.

Wayne enjoyed a dedicated career as a truck driver for Rich-Hil Transportation, Inc., from which he eventually retired after more than 30 years. It was working there that he met his wife, the late Doris Cassotti, whom he was married to for more than fifty years before her passing in 2021.  His work ethic was only matched by his pride in maintaining a welcoming home, taking meticulous care of both the interior and exterior.

His interests were diverse and reflected a clever spirit. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often settling down to enjoy an episode of "Gunsmoke," watching an old Western movie, or immersing himself in country music. Outside of these fond pastimes, Wayne was an enthusiastic gun collector and loved tinkering around the house, always engaging in projects that delighted him.

Wayne served in the United States Army Reserves, contributing to his country with pride and honor. He was also a devoted dog lover, particularly enjoying the companionship of his doberman pinschers, which brought him much happiness over the years.

Wayne leaves behind his family, survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Jerri Adickes of Long Valley, NJ, and David and Posey Adickes of Washington, NJ, his sister-in-law, Loretta Adickes of Glen Gardner, NJ, along with one niece and several nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. and Anne Dora (nee Snyder) Adickes, his wife, Doris P. (Cassotti) Adickes, and his brother Doug Adickes, who passed away just one day after Wayne.
