John Adkins Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 15, 2025.
John Crawford "Ford" Adkins, age 7, passed away on November 14, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. From the moment anyone met Ford, they would know he was someone special. He was an old soul, wise beyond his years, quick-witted and full of a fun sass that would come out when he playfully razzed you. He was an avid Amazon shopper and enjoyed crafting and "gambling" on his iPad. When asked, Ford described himself as having a big heart and loving everyone. He was incredibly brave and refused to back down from the challenges he faced. Ford was diagnosed with neuroblastoma when he was three years old and fought with unshakeable determination because, as he always said, "Adkins boys never give up." He was thoughtful and cared so much about others. He loved his family, friends, classmates at New Haven, and his doctors and nurses at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Ford was the best big brother, always leading with love and finding joy in making his little brother smile. He was, simply put, the perfect child.

Ford is survived by parents: Tyler and Courtney Adkins, brother: Shepard Adkins, his cat: Frank, grandparents: Kip and Rhonda Bell and Jim and Michelle Grimmett, great-grandmothers: Ellen Osborne and Barbara Bell, and aunts: Kelly (Cooper) Dixon and their son: Miller, and Brooke (Eric) Dotson and their son: Ledger. He was loved by many other special aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Johnny Adkins, and great-grandparents: Darwin and Mary Prater, Roy "Peanut" and Judy Grimmett, Jack and Dollie Adkins, Fred Osborne, and Douglas Bell, and great uncle: Freddie Osborne.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 18, 2025 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Florence Methodist Church (8585 Old Toll Rd, Florence, KY 41042). Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00pm. Ford will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Ford's honor to Cincinnati Children's Hospital.(https://giving.cincinnatichildrens.org/campaign/650825/donate?c_src=home&c_src2=header)
