The Celebration of his Life will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Grove Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 115 First St. E., Pledger, Texas 77468, Interment will follow at Paradise Cemetery, West Columbia, Texas. He was born to the late James and Harriet Amboree on April 25, 1925, in Pledger, Texas. He attended Elementary and Williams High School in Pledger. He served for his Country as a WWII Veteran in the Army of the United States. He retired from Spaw-Glass Construction Company in 1988 after serving 20+ years.
Deacon Amboree accepted Christ at an early age, was baptized at Grove Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Pledger, Texas, where he served faithfully as a Deacon for 72 years. Deacon Amboree loved his family, his church, western movies, traveling, watching and attending basketball/football games, track & field events; and most of all he enjoyed a good game of dominos.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robbie Elaine King, his son John D. Amboree, Jr. (Aubolyn, deceased), two grandchildren, Samari Toyfoya and Yolanda Yvette King-Johnson.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory are his beloved Wife of 74 years Idell Amboree, Daughters, Evelyn Faye Amboree, Velma Jean Amboree-Justice (Michael), Sons, James Gregory Amboree (Jeanette), Robert Amboree, Sr. (Anna), Brother, Travis Amboree, Sister Eliza Jean Odom, Sister-in-law Tenola Franklin, Grandchildren, Russell Todd Amboree, Kasandra Sheree Amboree, Sharonda Renee' Amboree, Christopher James Simmons-Amboree, Malcolm King, Herman King III, Alnealia King, Robert Amboree, Jr., Jean Ramon Amboree, Keyara Boudreaux, 14 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of John, please visit our floral store.
