Published by Legacy on Jul. 11, 2024.
John Bradley Anderton, 67, of Woodstock, VA, passed away on June 27, 2024. Born on October 25, 1956, John was known for his loving and welcoming nature, often described as someone who never met a stranger.
John proudly served in the Marines, dedicating himself with the same fervor he applied to every aspect of his life. After his military service, he worked as a delivery truck driver for many years, a job he performed with dedication and pride.
John's life was deeply rooted in his faith, and he cherished the relationships with his family and friends above all. His greatest joys were found in the time spent with his loved and cherished ones and attending NHRA drag races, where he shared his passion with family and fellow enthusiasts.
He leaves behind his wife, Vickie Scanland; sons Andrew Brinker, Joseph Brinker (Heather Lewis), and bonus son Adam King; grandchildren Tiara, Ciara, Noah, and Jana; sister-in-law Lucy (Howard) Long; numerous nieces and nephews; friend and caregiver Jacqueline Painter; and best friend Fred Dillon, Jr. John was preceded in death by his mother, Sadie Anderton, and brother, William Sanders.
A memorial service will be held at a future date to honor John's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Blue Ridge Hospice at brhospice.org/donate or Virginia Hills Church Woodstock, PO Box 428, Woodstock, VA 22664, reflecting John's commitment to his community and faith.
