Kenneth John Angell, 59, of Colo, Iowa passed away on August 19, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 11, 1966, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Kenneth Eugene and Roberta May (Ellis) Angell.
John was a loving, devoted, and hardworking husband, father, son, brother and his favorite title, grandpa. He is survived by his wife, Corky Angell, children, Bethanie (Trent) Langloss, Brendon Angell, Bryan Angell, Brock Angell, Jymmy Shuey, Kaleb Angell, Molly Angell, Jack Angell, Grandson Bryar, father Kenneth (Patty Valline) Angell, siblings, Brenda Angell, Chad (Laurie) Angell, Marjorie (Rodney) Sutton, Charles (Nicole) Angell, mother-in-law, Anna Hartwig, sisters and brothers-in-law, Candice (Matt) Dole and Crisha (Kirk) Miller, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In his early years John lived in Humboldt and Fort Dodge area. In 1974 his family moved from Stratford to Huxley where he lived until graduating from Ballard High School in 1984. John will always be remembered for a few stunts in junior high and high school. After graduation he moved to Phoenix, AZ where he discovered and utilized his various skills. Everything from a door company with repairs in the middle of the night to consignment sales and various other jobs.
In 1991 he was united in marriage to Christina (Frattini) Weuve. From this union came 4 wonderful children: Bethanie, Brendon, Bryan and Brock.
In 2001, he was blessed with another son, Kaleb, born to him and Michelle (McFadden) Merrigan.
In 2003 he was united in marriage to Corky (Hartwig) Angell. He gained a wonderful bonus daughter, Jymmy. In 2006 they decided there weren't enough "helping hands" and along came their daughter, Molly. Shortly after they were blessed for the last time with a son, Jack, in 2007.
After living in Arizona, he returned to Iowa in 1993 and began helping develop Twin Anchors Golf Course. Later he started Angell Landscape with his brother, Chad where they began by driving around and knocking on doors to build up their business. It worked. In 1995 he purchased Twin Anchors Campground, where he could work on his "Jack of All Trades" title. This is where his larger-than-life personality, big smile, people skills & constant hard work paid off. Along the way he loved to add projects to his list of things to do, buying properties to rent and/or flip. To say the least, he was incredibly resourceful and could build or repair anything. Along with his strong work ethic, he was also known to kick back from time to time, whether on the beach in the Bahamas, during hunting and fishing trips with the guys, or when cheering on the Cyclones and Broncos.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Angell, grandparents, John & Wilma Angell, Clifford & Lucile Nelson, great-grandparents, Clesson and Ethel Ellis, and his father-in-law, Dean Hartwig.
His visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2025, also at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Poppe officiating. Interment will follow at Colo Cemetery in Colo. A celebration of John's life will follow the services at the Hartwig Family Farm, 20024 720th Avenue - Colo, IA 50056.
