Obituary of John F. Badger
Rochester- John F. Badger, age 67, of East Rochester passed away on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 surrounded by his family at Rochester General Hospital.
John was born Tuesday, October 28th, 1958. He grew up in
Penfield, NY with his parents, Spencer and Margaret, and his sister Kathy. He graduated from Webster Schroeder High School in 1976.
John had a love for adventure starting at a young age. He spent much of his youth at Ellison Park not too far from where he lived. He loved to ride dirt bikes and motorcycles, which led to numerous injuries over the years.
He inherited a love of nature from his mother who encouraged him to learn and explore. His deep appreciation for nature was instilled in his children, especially when they went on trips to Letchworth and other parks. He found particular joy in summer trips to the Thousand Islands: full of fishing, sitting and enjoying the view of the St. Lawrence River with his family.
John loved his family dearly. He took great pride in his children; he celebrated each and every accomplishment - big or small. He always made them feel loved.
He worked for several transportation/logistic companies over his career. John loved the open road and found great joy in traveling around the city and finger lakes region for work. He never used a map; he had a knack for finding his way around any area.
John was loved by all who knew him. He was friendly and easygoing and had a natural gift of striking up a conversation with anyone. He always took the time to listen.
John found joy in life's simple pleasures. His kindness, appreciation for others and laid-back personality will be remembered by his loved ones. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at the CICU at RGH for the outstanding care they provided to John. Their compassion and care went above and beyond, offering not only their excellent medical attention, but also genuine comfort and friendship. John and his family appreciated the support they gave him during such a difficult time in his life.
He is survived by his wife Diane, married 32 years (together for 40 years); children, Courtney (Louis) Badger-Vistocco of Rochester and Taylor Badger of Rochester; his sister Kathy (Mark) Ferguson; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lee Stubbings, Ronald Litzenberger, Kenneth Litzenberger, Debra Litzenberger, Denise (Chris) Ash, and Nellie Rehberg; many nieces and nephews; and cats, Lilly and Leo.
