John E. Bakowski, a treasured soul known for his handiness, loving nature, and selflessness, completed his earthly journey on February 22, 2025, at the age of 67, in his beloved hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Born to the city that never rests on August 21, 1957, John's vibrant spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A man of many skills, John weaved his expertise through the realms of heating, cooling, and carpentry. His hands were seldom still, always tinkering, fixing, or creating something that would make life a little easier for those around him.
John was an avid fisherman, often found at dawn with a line in the water, patiently waiting for the day's catch. The silence of nature was a balm to his soul, and the thrill of a tug on the line brought him an unmatched sense of peace.
John's love for excitement extended to the casino, where he shared laughter and good-times with his sister Nancy Mercado. It also extended to his love of watching country western movies and Chicago sports.
Though John's life was rich with hobbies and talent, his true pride and joy were his family. He is survived by his loving children, Lesia Moore, Julie Bakowski, and Jeff Bakowski, who will forever cherish the memory of their father's boundless love and unwavering support. John's spirit lives on in the hearts of his beloved grandchildren, Kenzie and Kole Moore, who were the lights of his life. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Denise Bakowski-Barajas, whose memory remained a guiding star for him.
John will always be remembered as the man who could fix anything but did so much more than repair; he built a foundation of love and kindness that will support his family for generations to come.
As we bid farewell to John E. Bakowski, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless lives he touched. His departure leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but the warmth of his memory will continue to comfort and inspire all who knew him.
