John Joseph Banks
On April 29, 2025, of Washington Twp. Age 79. Beloved husband of JoAnn (nee Mannino). Devoted father of Patrice Capone (Rich) and the late Damon Giovanni Banks. Loving grandfather ofJessica, Rebecca, and Victoria. Dear brother of Thomas Banks, Eric Banks (Betty Ann), Kevin Banks (Melody), and Valerie Hecht. Predeceased by his parents Robert Banks and Jane (nee Cole). Loved by many nieces and nephews.
John was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised on a farm in Washington Twp., NJ. He loved hunting, fishing, and getting into mischief with his brothers. He attended dances at places like Almonesson Ballroom and was even on Band Stand.
He enlisted in the Marines in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War. When he got out of the service, he married the love of his life JoAnn and raised his daughter, Patrice, and his son, Damon.
He was a car salesman for 20 years where he won several awards for top salesman. He went on to retire and earned the highest title of his life as GPOP! He loved his granddaughters with all his heart, as they were the love and light of his life. He enjoyed every minute of watching them grow up into the beautiful women they are today.
John loved the casinos, playing the lottery, growing his coin collection, telling jokes, going to the Berlin Mart, watching war movies and westerns, watching the Eagles play, and most of all being with his family. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it.
Always uplifting and in good spirits, right up until the end. John fought a long and tough battle with lung cancer and COPD, that ultimately took his life. His suffering has finally ended, and he is now at peace and in the hands of our Lord.
Family and friends are welcome to attend his viewing Friday, May 2nd 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park, Washington Twp.
